FOOD PANTRY DONATION
There has been an increased focus recently on our fellow citizens who are in need of food assistance. That has prompted us to entertain what we hope will become an annual charitable contribution tradition of our December Membership Meeting. Participating in this new tradition will be totally voluntary. If you do not wish to partake, simply feel uncomfortable doing so, or feel you fit the description of recipient moreso than donor in this scenario, then by all means it is your choice. But if you wish to help out, please bring a couple of needy items (see suggested list below) or between a $2-$5 cash donation to our upcoming December 6th meeting. We will have collection containers / boxes available to you, along with a “cash” box. Once collected, we will divide them accordingly–based on the volume received–to transport to places like Harvesters (where we know they accept cash donations) or a variety of area food pantries.
Canned Fruits, Canned Vegetables, Canned Beans, Canned Soup, Canned Meat, Peanut Butter, Whole Grain Pasta, Brown Rice, Oatmeal. Granola Bars, Low-Sugar Cereal, Shelf-Stable And Powdered Milk, Cooking Oil, Flour, Sugar, Salt, Spices, Coffee Or Tea, Juice, Crackers, Popcorn Kernels, Baby Food And Formula, Dried Herbs, Applesauce, Whole Grain Cereal, Black-Eyed Peas, Baked Goods, Canned Fish, Canned Protein

UPCOMING ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING…AND AWARDS

The 2025 summer session’s conference / division championship shirts will be handed out at this meeting and therefore will be available to those teams’ players who are present. Our annual Wes Weddle – Spirit of the Game awards, along with the Rookie of the Year awards (both nominated by fellow members)–will be presented. Additionally, any member who has earned our Ambassador status will be announced along with presenting certificates to those who have achieved the 5 & 10-year Manager or Conference Coordinator plateau. Anyone elected to our Hall of Honor or chosen as a Presidential Recognition award winner will also be acknowledged.
MARKETING COMMITTEE SETS STAGE FOR MAJOR MEMBERSHIP GROWTH
The 2025-26 expanded KCMSSL Marketing Committee requests YOUR assistance to increase membership while also attracting younger members and teams to join the KCMSSL. We need every single KCMSSL member to assist us. It can be as easy as talking to your neighbor, colleague, or family member about the KCMSSL; passing out brochures or business cards; sharing your Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, or Nextdoor posts to increase awareness on a broader scale; or getting involved more directly with one of our Marketing Committee members. We will have a supply of our 2026 trifold brochure and generic business cards available to anyone wanting some at our annual December 6th Membership Meeting. The generic business card allows you to provide the recipient your own contact information, or if you wish, the contact info of someone in management. Your choice.
This is OUR league. Please help us in any way you can with a small or large contribution to make sure that OUR league and organization remains vital and continues to allow us all to enjoy playing softball in a fun, safe, social environment. FIRST RESPONDERS:
If you are one of our volunteer First Responders, we want to recognize you. You do not have to be a police person or firefighter; a certified EMT or EMR; or even a doctor or nurse in order to be a First Responder. Just an everyday good Samaritan who is comfortable enough with AED, etc., training to step forward in an attempt to save someone’s life.
So, as with our website’s Military Service Wall, if your criteria fits being a First Responder, please provide the following information to Susan Enyeart – sde816@gmail.com, or mail it to Susan — 17904 E 25th Terrace S, Independence, MO 64057-1342. - What formal or informal training/knowledge, if any, you may have relative to being a First Responder. Again, have no training?…no problem!!
We are also entertaining making First-Aid / CPR classes available to anyone wishing to partake of one to be a certified First Responder. Our plan in arranging these is to contact fire departments, Red Cross locations, or the like in a variety of area neighborhoods. We will plan the class, but you will need to pay–estimated to be $20-$50. If interested, please let Clint Berger know — clintberger@hotmail.com.
2026 MEMBERSHIP DUES
Everyone with an email address attached to their record in our membership database will be able to pay their 2026 membership dues “online” anytime after December 6. Simply click on this link: https://leaguesheets.com/league/6 . Anyone wishing to pay their dues while at the upcoming annual Membership Meeting may do so by getting in touch with Paul Heacock – Treasurer (to pay via card), or Mark Kenney – Membership Secretary, before or after the meeting.
Lifetime Membership Dues: Each member will still pay his / her membership dues in the year he / she turns age 75. Each year thereafter, the member’s dues are waived…i.e., free. However, the member will still need to notify their manager, conference coordinator, Barry Gordon barrygordo@aol.com, 913-827 7722, Mark Kenney mkenneyedfirst@gmail.com, 816.529.8968, or Clint Berger clintberger@hotmail.com, 913.481.7937 of their Lifetime status each year so their record can be updated accordingly. Otherwise, their manager will NOT be able to add him / her to their online team roster.
2026 DRAFT CONFERENCE FEES
As with previous years, draft conference “league fees” are NOT yet available for payment — either online or via cash or check — simply because we have not yet been provided each draft conference venue’s cost from the corresponding Parks & Recreation departments. Once those figures are received, we will update each draft venue’s online payment feature and alert you of that fact via another email.
