ATTENTION  ALL  MILITARY  VETERANS!!!!

Veterans Day is “right around the corner” (November 11th).  However, instead of just recognizing our veterans one day each year, we would like to permanently acknowledge every KCMSSL military service member–active or retired, living or deceased–by displaying their picture along with a listing of their branch of service on our website https://kcseniorsoftball.org/?page_id=7781 .  If you or someone you know fits the criteria, please provide the requested information below so you, or the person you know, can be appropriately recognized.    We have already acknowledged 129 of our current or deceased military members.   Please help us complete the list.

Provide the following:

  • Photo of the subject military service person (we would prefer a recent picture…we simply want those viewing the individual’s information to be able to “put a familiar face with a name”):

  • Branch of Service:

CALLING  ALL  MEMBERS……..

The KCMSSL Marketing Committee needs your assistance.  To grow our membership, which includes attracting younger members, we wish to embark on a bold strategy…targeting 7 major areas: Community Centers, Gyms, Media Outlets, Sporting Events, Practice Facilities, and Sports Bars…oh, and even Senior Living Centers–for those “not-so-young” prospective members 🙂 .

Neighborhood stores, restaurants, etc., are also targets on our radar screen–especially if it’s your own business (which allows for customer contact/interaction).  Or maybe you know of yet-another location/business that fits this description.

We are asking any members who may have a contact or an “in” at any of these target areas to please come forward and assist the committee in getting our information in front of their members/customers.  Something as simple as just placing our brochures in, or around, their bulletin board can help.  We need everyone’s assistance so that our organization can continue to grow.

We also realize that the best way for growth to occur is through YOUR “WORD OF MOUTH” .  So, please assist us and assist the league by talking about and promoting the KCMSSL at any and every opportunity.  If you have a contact for us to reach out to, please let us know.  If you’d like to help us, please contact Barry Gordon: barrygordo@aol.com; 913.827.7722. And by the way…we also have new inventory of our KC Metro window stickers for anyone needing a replacement, or maybe you’ve never had one.  They will be at our annual December Membership Meeting.   Feel free to ask for one or more.

BOARD  ELECTIONS

A heads-up that in less than two weeks you will be receiving an email requesting you to log into your KCMSSL membership database record (via a link in the email) to vote for “a minimum of 1, or up to a maximum of 5” new, or a combination of incumbent/new, Board of Directors for our 2026 season.  Those running for election this year?   Brad Anderson, Clint Berger, Bill Boos, Paul Heacock, Mark Kenney, Jim Mueller, Mike Peel, Bob Shea, John Shoebrook, Ann Willkett.  Please make your voice heard….so that we can serve you in the best way possible. 

UPCOMING  ANNUAL  MEMBERSHIP  MEETING

Our 2025 season is complete.   Did we have some bumps along the way?   Absolutely.  And although those bumps may not have been felt by all, our thanks to those who helped us “smooth out those bumps” to the best of their ability and make 2025 another overall successful season.

Plan now to attend our annual membership meeting–scheduled for December 6th at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center – 11902 Lowell Ave, Overland Park, KS 66213, beginning with coffee and donuts at 9:00–https://goo.gl/maps/5qwawPt2bYMWoidGA .  The conference/division championship shirts will be available and handed out at this meeting…along with our annual awards (Wes Weddle – Spirit of the Game, Rookie of the Year, and the prestigious 20-year Ambassador jackets to the newest members achieving that milestone).  More meeting information will accompany the upcoming publication of the 2025 Board of Directors ballot election mailer.   Several other announcements for our 2026 season will be made at this meeting, so plan to attend.

ANNUAL  MEMBERSHIP  SURVEY

You have already received, via email, our 8th annual “membership” survey requesting your feedback.  We are looking for comments as to how this past season unfolded for you.  What was good about it–and what was not-so-good; what could be improved upon, as well as what should remain the same, etc., etc.  Please do not hesitate to let your feelings be known.   We welcome the good, as well as the bad, feedback.  We can’t help you if you do not let us know about your concern.  So, again, please respond.  And if for some reason you overlooked that email but still wish to provide something, simply email your thoughts to Clint Berger — clintberger@hotmail.com, or the group email box – info@kcseniorsoftball.org.

FIRST  RESPONDERS:

Don’t know about you, but if I’m lying on the ballfield (possibly taking my last breath), I’d sure want you to find one of our volunteer First Responders in an attempt to save my life.  Someone who, over the years, hasn’t given a second thought to jumping right in towards lending a hand with on-field medical emergencies.

If you are one of our volunteer First Responders, we want to recognize you.  You do not have to be a police person or firefighter; a certified EMT or EMR; or even a doctor or nurse in order to be a First Responder.  Just an everyday good Samaritan who is comfortable enough with AED, etc., training to step forward in an attempt to save someone’s life.

So, as with our Military Service Wall, if your criteria fits being a First Responder, please provide the following information to Susan Enyeart – sde816@gmail.com, or mail it to Susan — 17904 E 25th Terrace S, Independence, MO 64057-1342.  Questions?…please give Susan a call – 913.626.4946.

CONTINUE  TO  SAVE  THOSE  PULL  TABS!!!!   

Continue to collect those “pull tabs” to turn over to Deb Brown–for the local Ronald McDonald House.  You may also hand them in, at your convenience, to your team manager, your conference coordinator, or any one of the board members.  You can even bring whatever you’ve collected, to date, to our December Annual Membership Meeting (to give to Deb).  This is a charitable organization to which all of us should be able to contribute.
