ATTENTIONย  ALLย  MILITARYย  VETERANS!!!!

Veterans Day is “right around the corner” (November 11th).ย  However, insteadย of just recognizing our veterans one day each year, we would like to permanently acknowledge everyย KCMSSL military service member–active or retired, living or deceased–by displaying their picture along with a listing of their branch of serviceย on our website https://kcseniorsoftball.org/?page_id=7781 .ย  If youย or someone you knowย fits theย criteria, pleaseย provide the requested information below so you, or the person you know,ย can be appropriatelyย recognized.ย  ย  We haveย already acknowledgedย 129ย of our currentย or deceasedย military members.ย  ย Please help us complete theย list.

Provide the following:

  • Photoย of the subject military service person (we would prefer a recentย picture…we simply want those viewing the individual’s information to be able to “put a familiar face with aย name”):
  • Full Name:
  • Branch of Service:

Please send thisย information toย John Mondiย – jmondi@kc.rr.com, or mail it to John —ย 10517 W 102nd Ter., Overland Park, KSย  ย 66214.ย  Questions?…..please give Johnย a call – 913.284.6005.

CALLINGย  ALLย  MEMBERSโ€ฆโ€ฆ..

The KCMSSL Marketing Committee needs your assistance.ย  To grow our membership, which includesย attracting younger members, we wishย to embark on a bold strategy…targeting 7 majorย areas: Community Centers,ย Gyms,ย Media Outlets,ย Sporting Events,ย Practice Facilities,ย and Sports Bars…oh, and even Senior Living Centers–for those “not-so-young” prospectiveย membersย ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Neighborhood stores, restaurants, etc., are also targets on our radar screen–especially if it’s your own business (which allows for customer contact/interaction).ย  Or maybe you know of yet-anotherย location/business that fits this description.

We are asking any members who may have a contact or an โ€œinโ€ at any of theseย target areas to please come forward and assist the committee in getting our information in front of their members/customers.ย  Something as simple as just placing our brochures in, or around, their bulletin board canย help.ย  We need everyoneโ€™s assistance so thatย our organization canย continue to grow.

We also realize thatย the best way for growth to occur is through YOUR โ€œWORD OF MOUTHโ€ .ย  So, please assist us and assist the league by talking about and promoting the KCMSSL at any and every opportunity.ย  If you have a contact for us to reach out to, please let us know.ย  If youโ€™d like to help us, please contact Barry Gordon: barrygordo@aol.com; 913.827.7722. Thank you for your assistance.ย  Together we can grow.

And by the way…we also have new inventoryย of our KC Metro window stickers for anyone needing a replacement, or maybe you’ve never had one.ย  They will be at our annual December Membership Meeting.ย  ย Feel free to ask for oneย or more.

BOARDย  ELECTIONS

A heads-up that in less than twoย weeks you will be receiving an email requestingย you to log into your KCMSSL membership database record (via a link in the email) toย vote for “a minimum of 1, orย up to aย maximum ofย 5” new, or a combination of incumbent/new, Board of Directors for our 2026ย season.ย  Those running for election this year?ย  ย Brad Anderson,ย Clint Berger, Bill Boos, Paul Heacock, Mark Kenney, Jim Mueller,ย Mike Peel,ย Bob Shea,ย John Shoebrook,ย Ann Willkett.ย ย Please make your voice heard….so that we can serve you in the best way possible.ย

UPCOMINGย  ANNUALย  MEMBERSHIPย  MEETING

Our 2025ย season is complete.ย  ย Did we have some bumps along the way?ย  ย Absolutely.ย  And although those bumps may not have been felt by all, our thanks to thoseย who helped us “smooth out those bumps”ย to the best of their abilityย and make 2025ย another overall successfulย season.

Plan now to attend our annual membership meeting–scheduled for December 6thย at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center –ย 11902 Lowell Ave, Overland Park, KS 66213, beginning with coffee and donuts at 9:00–https://goo.gl/maps/5qwawPt2bYMWoidGA .ย  The conference/division championship shirts will be availableย and handed out at this meeting…along with ourย annual awards (Wes Weddle – Spirit of the Game, Rookie of the Year, and the prestigious 20-year Ambassador jackets to the newestย members achieving that milestone).ย  More meeting information willย accompany the upcoming publication of the 2025ย Board of Directors ballot election mailer.ย  ย Severalย other announcements for ourย 2026ย season will be madeย at this meeting, so plan to attend.

ANNUALย  MEMBERSHIPย  SURVEY

Youย have already received, via email, our 8th annual “membership” survey requesting your feedback.ย  We are looking for commentsย as to how this past season unfolded for you.ย  Whatย was good about it–and what was not-so-good; what could be improved upon, as well as what shouldย remain the same, etc., etc.ย  Please do not hesitate to let your feelings be known.ย  ย We welcome the good, as well as the bad, feedback.ย  We can’tย help you if you do not let us know about yourย concern.ย  So, again, please respond.ย  And if for some reason you overlooked that email but still wish to provide something, simply emailย your thoughts toย Clint Berger — clintberger@hotmail.com, or the group email box – info@kcseniorsoftball.org.

FIRSTย  RESPONDERS:

Don’t know about you, but if I’m lying on the ballfield (possibly taking my last breath), I’dย sure want you toย find one of ourย volunteer First Responders in an attempt to save my life.ย  Someoneย who, over the years,ย hasn’t given a second thought toย jumping right in towards lending a hand with on-field medical emergencies.

If you are one of our volunteerย First Responders,ย we wantย to recognize you.ย  You do not have to be a police personย or firefighter; a certified EMTย or EMR; or even a doctor or nurse in order to be a First Responder.ย  Just an everydayย good Samaritan who is comfortable enough with AED, etc., training to step forwardย in an attempt to save someone’s life.

So, as with our Military Service Wall, if your criteria fitsย being a First Responder, pleaseย provide the followingย information to Susan Enyeartย – sde816@gmail.com, or mail it to Susanย —ย 17904 E 25th Terrace S, Independence, MO 64057-1342.ย  Questions?…please give Susanย a call – 913.626.4946.

  • Photo
  • Full Name
  • What formalย or informalย training/knowledge, if any,ย you may have relative to being a First Responder.ย  ย Again, have noย training?…no problem!!

CONTINUEย  TOย  SAVEย  THOSEย  PULLย  TABS!!!!ย  ย

Continue to collect thoseย “pull tabs”ย to turnย over to Deb Brown–for the local Ronald McDonald House.ย ย You may also hand them in, atย your convenience, to your team manager, your conference coordinator, or any one of theย board members.ย ย You can even bring whatever you’ve collected, to date, to our December Annual Membership Meeting (to give to Deb).ย ย This isย a charitable organization toย which all of us should beย ableย to contribute.
