YOUR  2026  BOARD  OF  DIRECTORS,  AND  EXECUTIVE  COMMITTEE

The Board of Directors election results, effective as of the 2026 season, were announced at our Annual Membership Meeting on December 6, 2025.  Your 2026 Board can also be viewed on our website:  https://kcseniorsoftball.org/?page_id=70

Your subsequent 2026 Board of Directors “Executive Committee” members were elected at our recent January 22nd board meeting.  They are:

President – Clint Berger;  Vice-President – Barry Gordon; Membership Secretary – Bob Fama;  Secretary – Ann Willkett; and Treasurer – Paul Heacock.

2026  MEMBERSHIP  DUES  &  DRAFT  CONFERENCE  FEES

If you have not yet paid your 2026 membership dues and wish to do so online, you may do so now.  Simply go to our website: https://kcseniorsoftball.org/, then click on the yellow “Online Player Registration” softball icon in the upper right, log in, and then scroll towards the bottom of your record to pay.   Or you can just click on the following link: https://leaguesheets.com/league/6.

However, if you are wishing to pay anyone of your “draft” conference league fee(s) online, we have to apologize.  We are still pulling together all the appropriate data from our corresponding Parks & Recreations departments in order to allow you to make a single-visit to your record to pay both your dues and fees at the same time.  Sorry for the delay, but we will make you aware as to when we have obtained those figures and have entered them into League Sheets–so you can pay accordingly.

This also means we do not yet have the dollar amount figures, etc., updated on the draft registration form on our website — for those of you who prefer to print and complete that form.  Again, once we have those figures, we will update that form.

Lifetime Membership Reminder:  If you have already paid your season’s membership dues once, at age 75 or older, you are considered a Lifetime member and need not pay dues going forward.  However, in order for you to be added to any team’s roster, you need to be confirmed as an active 2026 member.   Therefore, we kindly request that you access your KC Metro membership record and update it appropriately:  https://leaguesheets.com/league/6 …..OR, notify your manager, or Bob Fama (816.679.4912), or Paul Heacock (913.707.7079), or Clint Berger (913.481.7937) to have one of them mark your record appropriately.

INDEPENDENCE  – MONDAY  NIGHT  COMPETITIVE  CONFERENCE

We are looking for a fourth team to join us in a 60 / 65+ double-header conference on Monday nights at the Independence Athletic Complex – 17800 E Salisbury Rd, Independence, MO 64056 – https://maps.app.goo.gl/ox2CzyduAukrqvfy6  . Games are always at 7 and 8 pm, and we typically start playing in mid-April and finish prior to September SSUSA’s World Championships in Las Vegas. If you are interested in having your team join us, please contact Gary Pumphrey at gdpump@yahoo.com or (816) 682-9963. There is also the possibility that some of our current teams could use an individual player, or two, so if you have an interest in possibly finding a team to play on, let Gary know that too.

SATURDAY  MORNING  60+  DRAFT  CONFERENCE  @  ROE  PARK

There is room for adjustment and expansion on Saturday mornings at Roe Park this coming season!!  The 60 / 65 competitive conference–which had been a fixture at Roe Park over the past 10+ years–will NOT be returning for the 2026 season.  This will allow more flexibility with field availability and game times for the Saturday morning 60+ Draft Conference.  There were 68 members, comprising 5 teams participating in the Saturday morning draft conference in 2025.  We see this conference expanding to 6 teams in 2026.   Why?…because we are anticipating players from those non-returning competitive conference teams to consider participating in this Draft Conference.

Therefore, if you are interested, you can join once we have the Saturday morning Draft Conference fee entered into League Sheets–so that you can pay accordingly.   If you have any questions, please contact Gary Pycior — gpycio1@gmail.com – 816.206.3683.

SUNDAY  EVENING  35+  MEN’S  COMPETITIVE  CONFERENCE  @  BLACK  BOB  PARK

In 2025 we had 7 teams participate in our 35+ men’s Sunday evening competitive conference at Black Bob Park in Olathe.  Game scheduling simply works better when there is an even number of teams in any given conference.  Therefore, if you are aware of an additional team interested in joining this conference, please have them contact John Dehan – jdehan@callthegame.com – 913.897.7500.   Or if you want to, individually, join one of our Sunday evening teams, please contact John.

And just so you know, even though this conference is labeled “35+”, 41% of the players in this conference were 50+ years of age in 2025.  89% of them were over 40.   So, don’t let the 35+ label scare you!!

ATTENTION  2026  TEAM  MANAGERS  —  SAVE  THE  DATE

Our 2026 Managers’ Meeting will be held on March 14 at 10:30 AM at the Mid-Continent Library – Community Room — 12930 Booth Lane, Grandview, MO 64030-2682 – https://maps.app.goo.gl/j1ovmFCY8z5tHMgr6 .   The library does open (on Saturday) until 10:00, so feel free to get there in time to socialize a bit prior to the 10:30 start time.  Due to this later start time, we will NOT be providing coffee or donuts.

If you will be the manager of your team for the upcoming season, please save the date accordingly.  There are a number of rule changes being made this season, both competitive and draft, that we feel you need to know.   If you wish to bring your assistant manager or others with you to the meeting, please feel free to do so.   At the same time, if you are the manager and are unable to attend, we encourage you to send someone in your place.

We also suggest you inquire with your corresponding conference coordinator(s) to find out if he / she plans to have a “mini breakout session” immediately after the Manager’s Meeting, to discuss specifics for your conference.

SAVE  THE  TOURNAMENT  DATE

Our Wes Weddle Classic tournament ($450 entry fee, 4-game guarantee) is set as follows:

  • The 50-55’s will play April 25-26 at Black Bob Park – 14500 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062 – https://maps.app.goo.gl/oYcaVdqQJ7FjKAzTA
  • The 65-80-year-old teams will then play at the Frank White Sports Complex on Thursday and Friday, April 30 – May 1 – 3901 SW Longview Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081 – https://maps.app.goo.gl/wSDLFjTKESqamksw8 .
  • Those games will be followed by the 60+ teams on Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3…again at Black Bob Park.
  • During that same timeframe (i.e., May 2-3) the 40’s thru 60’s WOMEN will be playing at Happy Rock Park – 7565 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119 – https://maps.app.goo.gl/cVoyDfe9K9vaRqUT7

Neither you nor your teammates have to be KCMSSL members to participate, but to be eligible to win your age group’s division, you do need to be a member of SSUSA (Senior Softball-USA).   If any of your team’s members are NOT registered with SSUSA, you may still enter the tournament — as an exhibition team.

UMPIRES…..

We are always in need of good umpires with senior softball experience.  Where better to recruit from than our own membership, who are playing the game?   Even better, over half of you are already accustomed to making the calls, so you have experience as an umpire. 🙂

But seriously, we are always in need of umpires.  Call the Game pays well for the one-hour scheduled 7-inning games, and the owner (John Dehan) will work around your playing schedule.   You pick the days and locations you want to work.  Think about it.   If you work just one game, you pay for your membership dues.  10 games will get you that new bat you’ve been wanting.  You could actually play for free all season!!   The available options:
