With Memorial Day right around the corner, our search continues for more KCMSSL military service veterans to add to our website’s “Military Service Wall” – https://kcseniorsoftball.org/?page_id=7781 . We have already collected information on 134 of our current or deceased members. Please help grow this list.

“CHANGES” TO OUR 2025 ALL-STAR GAMES / PICNIC / SKILLS CONTESTS VENUE
Due to another customer “beating us to the punch” relative to reserving Black Bob Park (where we had our 2025 All-Star Games / Picnic, etc.), we have had to, once again, pivot to a new location for our 2026 annual event. We will be moving “up North” to Happy Rock Park – 7565 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119 – https://maps.app.goo.gl/eh2hdspDoNGuH2oBA . And with that move, the date will be changing to Saturday, September 12th.
We are currently still exploring our food options for this year’s event. For those who attended the 2025 event, you may recall “Two Guys and a Grill” provided the food. We may employ them again this year, but again, we are exploring other options. We will update everyone once we make that decision. Either way, THE FOOD WILL CONTINUE TO BE FREE TO ALL ATTENDEES!!

ARE YOU A 20-YEAR KCMSSL “AMBASSADOR”?
THERE IS NEW CRITERIA TO QUALIFY YOU FOR AN AMBASSADOR JACKET !!
The Board of Directors has agreed to expand the universe of those eligible to receive an Ambassador Jacket — beginning in 2026.
What are the new criteria’s requirement options in this expanded format? Qualifying service consists of earning “credit points” via the :
- Number of years played in the league, and / or
- Number of years served as a team manager, and / or
- Number of years served as a conference coordinator, co-coordinator, and / or
- Number of years of service on the Board of Directors.
Any member who accumulates a total of 20 qualifying credits, in any combination of playing, managing, coordinating, or serving on the Board, is now eligible for an Ambassador jacket. Qualifying service is limited to four credits per calendar year – one credit point each for each qualifying category: Managing; Coordinating; Playing; and/or Serving on the Board of Directors.

The existing 20-year player pathway remains; this proposal simply adds leadership and board roles as additional qualifying service credits toward the same Ambassador recognition.
“NEW-LOOK” SOFTBALLS
Just a heads-up for anyone purchasing a new dozen of KC Metro men’s softballs going forward. For the past number of years, our approved league softballs were the Trump Stote, on which we had our KC Metro (round) logo stamped. A couple of years ago, our oversight organization (SSUSA) decided to abandon the use of the Trump Stote (going to the Baden ball). As a result, BSN (the company from which we both ordered the Trump Stote) ended up with an excess of thousands of dozens of the Trump Stote balls–with the SSUSA stamp on them. BSN made KC Metro an offer to purchase those balls at our current “per dozen” price….which (now) is approximately $20 cheaper than the going retail rate. So, to save “you” some $$, we purchased just over 500 dozen of them. We have now run out of the KC Metro stamped balls and have gotten into the “SSUSA-stamped” ones. So, do not feel you’ve received the incorrect balls when you open your next dozen and see the SSUSA stamp instead of our KC Metro stamp. These will be our current balls of use…until depleted. You may need to educate various individuals (i.e., umpires, the other team you’re playing against, etc.) about this change, but we felt making the decision to change was simply a good business decision–again, to save our teams some expense.
We still have and are using women’s softballs with the KC Metro stamp.

For any one of you who did not see Deb Brown’s Facebook posting (with Alan — from Ronald McDonald House) feel free to click on the following link –Facebook . The KCMSSL continues to work with Ronald McDonald House to assist with the needs of long-term care children’s families. If you haven’t already done so, start saving your “pop tabs” (ring tabs, pull tabs, or whatever you call them). Bring them to your manager! Managers, give them to your conference coordinator! Conference coordinators, make sure you have the tabs with you at your specific conference venue, because Deb Brown plans to stop by a couple of times during the season to pick them up and deliver them to our local Ronald McDonald House location.
