This Newsletter’s Table of Contents:<\/strong><\/p>\n NO, it is not yet Spring.\u00a0 Mother Nature made that perfectly clear to us the\u00a0past couple of days!!\u00a0 \u00a0\ud83d\ude42 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Board of Directors election results, effective as of the 2026\u00a0season,\u00a0were\u00a0announced at our Annual Membership Meeting on December 6, 2025.\u00a0 Your 2026 Board\u00a0can also be viewed on our website:\u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/kcseniorsoftball.org\/?page_id=70<\/p>\n Your subsequent 2026\u00a0Board of Directors “Executive Committee” members\u00a0were\u00a0elected at\u00a0our recent January 22nd\u00a0board meeting.\u00a0 They are:<\/p>\n President –\u00a0Clint Berger<\/strong>;\u00a0\u00a0Vice-President –\u00a0Barry Gordon<\/strong>; Membership Secretary – Bob Fama<\/strong>;\u00a0 Secretary –\u00a0Ann Willkett<\/strong>; and Treasurer –\u00a0Paul Heacock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n If you have not yet paid your 2026\u00a0membership dues\u00a0and wish to do so online, you may do so\u00a0now<\/strong>.\u00a0 Simply\u00a0go to our website: https:\/\/kcseniorsoftball.org\/, then click on the yellow “Online Player Registration” softball icon in the upper right, log in, and then scroll towards the bottom of your record to pay.\u00a0 \u00a0Or you can just click on the following link:\u00a0https:\/\/leaguesheets.com\/league\/6<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n However, if you are\u00a0wishing to pay anyone of your\u00a0“draft” conference league fee(s) online, we have to apologize.\u00a0 We are still pulling together all the appropriate data from our corresponding Parks & Recreations departments\u00a0in order to allow\u00a0you to make a single-visit to your record to pay both your dues and fees at the same time. \u00a0Sorry for the delay, but we will make you aware as to\u00a0when we have obtained those figures and have entered\u00a0them into League Sheets–so you can pay accordingly.<\/p>\n This also means we do not yet have the dollar amount figures, etc., updated\u00a0on\u00a0the draft registration form on our website — for those of you\u00a0who prefer to print and complete that form.\u00a0 Again, once we have those figures, we will update that form.<\/p>\n Lifetime Membership Reminder:<\/strong>\u00a0 If you have already paid your\u00a0season’s membership dues once,\u00a0at age 75\u00a0or older,\u00a0you are considered a Lifetime member and need not pay dues going forward.\u00a0 However, in order for you to be added to any team’s roster, you need to be confirmed as an active 2026\u00a0member.<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Therefore, we kindly request that you\u00a0access your KC Metro membership record and update it appropriately:\u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/leaguesheets.com\/league\/6<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0…..OR,\u00a0notify your manager, or Bob Fama\u00a0(816.679.4912), or Paul Heacock (913.707.7079), or Clint Berger (913.481.7937) to have one of them\u00a0mark your record appropriately.<\/p>\n We are looking for a fourth team to join us in a 60 \/ 65+ double-header conference on Monday nights at the Independence Athletic Complex – 17800 E Salisbury Rd, Independence, MO 64056 – https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/ox2CzyduAukrqvfy6\u00a0 . Games are always at 7 and 8 pm, and we typically start playing in mid-April and finish prior to September SSUSA’s World Championships in Las Vegas. If you are interested in having your team join us, please contact Gary Pumphrey at gdpump@yahoo.com<\/a> or (816) 682-9963. There is also the\u00a0possibility that some of our current teams could use an individual player, or two, so if you have an interest in possibly finding a team to play on, let Gary know that too.<\/p>\n There is room for adjustment\u00a0and expansion\u00a0on Saturday mornings at Roe Park this coming season!!\u00a0 The 60 \/ 65 competitive conference–which had been a fixture at Roe Park over the past 10+ years–will NOT be returning for the 2026 season.\u00a0 This will allow more flexibility with field availability and game times\u00a0for the Saturday morning 60+ Draft Conference.\u00a0 There were 68 members, comprising 5 teams\u00a0participating\u00a0in the Saturday morning draft conference in 2025.\u00a0 We see this conference expanding to 6 teams in 2026.\u00a0 \u00a0Why?…because we are anticipating\u00a0players from those non-returning competitive conference teams\u00a0to consider participating in this\u00a0Draft Conference.<\/p>\n Therefore, if you are\u00a0interested, you can join\u00a0once we have the Saturday morning Draft\u00a0Conference\u00a0fee entered into League Sheets–so that you can pay accordingly.\u00a0 \u00a0If you have any questions, please contact Gary Pycior\u00a0—\u00a0gpycio1@gmail.com –\u00a0816.206.3683.<\/p>\n In 2025\u00a0we had 7 teams participate\u00a0in our 35+ men’s Sunday evening competitive conference\u00a0at Black Bob Park in Olathe.\u00a0 Game\u00a0scheduling simply works better when there is\u00a0an even number of teams in any given conference.\u00a0 Therefore, if you are\u00a0aware of an additional team interested in\u00a0joining this conference, please have them contact John Dehan –\u00a0jdehan@callthegame.com –\u00a0913.897.7500.\u00a0 \u00a0Or if you want to, individually, join one of our Sunday evening teams, please contact John.<\/p>\n And just so you\u00a0know, even though this conference is labeled “35+”, 41% of the players in this conference were 50+ years of age in 2025.\u00a0 89% of them\u00a0were over 40.\u00a0 \u00a0So, don’t let the 35+ label scare you!!<\/strong><\/p>\n Our 2026\u00a0Managers’ Meeting will be held on March 14\u00a0at 10:30 AM\u00a0at the Mid-Continent Library – Community Room\u00a0— 12930 Booth Lane, Grandview, MO 64030-2682 –\u00a0https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/j1ovmFCY8z5tHMgr6<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0 \u00a0The library does open (on Saturday) until\u00a010:00, so feel free to get there in time to socialize a bit prior to the 10:30 start time.\u00a0 Due to this later\u00a0start time,\u00a0we will NOT be providing coffee or\u00a0donuts.<\/p>\n If you will be\u00a0the\u00a0manager of\u00a0your team for the upcoming season, please save the date accordingly.\u00a0 There are a number of rule changes being made this season, both competitive and draft, that we feel you need to know.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0If you wish to bring your assistant manager\u00a0or others\u00a0with you\u00a0to the meeting, please feel free to do so.\u00a0 \u00a0At the same time, if you are the manager and are unable to attend, we encourage\u00a0you to send someone in your place.<\/p>\n We also suggest you\u00a0inquire\u00a0with your corresponding conference coordinator(s) to find out if he \/ she\u00a0plans\u00a0to have a\u00a0“mini breakout session” immediately\u00a0after the Manager’s Meeting, to discuss specifics for your conference.<\/p>\n Our\u00a0Wes Weddle Classic<\/strong>\u00a0tournament ($450 entry fee, 4-game guarantee)\u00a0is set as follows:<\/p>\n Neither you nor your teammates have to be KCMSSL members to participate, but to be eligible to win your age group’s division, you do need to be a member of SSUSA (Senior Softball-USA).\u00a0 \u00a0If any of your team’s members are NOT registered with SSUSA, who are\u00a0playing the game?\u00a0 \u00a0Even better, over half of you are already accustomed to making the calls,\u00a0so you have experience as an umpire. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n But seriously, we are always in need of umpires.\u00a0 Call the Game pays well\u00a0for the one-hour scheduled 7-inning games, and the owner (John Dehan) will work around your playing schedule.\u00a0\u00a0 You pick the
